Cost-effective lean duplex steel providing high strength and good corrosion resistance
Grade S32101 (UNS S32101) is a low-nickel lean duplex stainless steel, designated as Lean Duplex 2101, containing 21% chromium, 1.5% nickel, and nitrogen strengthening to deliver roughly double the yield strength of 304L and 316L austenitic grades with comparable corrosion resistance in many environments. This lean duplex grade is engineered as a cost-stable alternative to nickel-sensitive austenitic alloys, offering superior resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking and improved mechanical properties. S32101 is widely utilized in storage tanks, pressure vessels, civil engineering structures, desalination plants, and water treatment equipment where a combination of high structural strength and durability is required. The material maintains excellent weldability and toughness, making it ideal for large-scale fabrications and structural components.

Lean Duplex LDX 2101 (S32101) is a stainless steel grade covered under ASTM A1082/A1082M for high-strength bolting in special-purpose applications such as pressure vessels. UNS designation S32101. Mechanical property requirements for S32101 are defined in ASTM A1082 Table 2 (PH grade solution treatment) or Table 4 (duplex annealed condition). Properties vary by treatment condition - refer to the bolting specification for the H-condition (PH) or annealed yield/tensile/elongation/hardness requirements applicable to your order.
