High-toughness precipitation hardening steel for critical aerospace applications
Grade S17600 (UNS S17600) is a precipitation hardening martensitic stainless steel, designated as 17-6 PH, containing 17% chromium and 6% nickel with molybdenum additions that enable age hardening to achieve high strength levels combined with superior toughness and corrosion resistance compared to 17-4 PH in demanding environments. This advanced PH grade is utilized in aerospace structural components, landing gear parts, high-performance fasteners, and critical mechanical assemblies requiring excellent strength, fracture toughness, and resistance to stress corrosion cracking. S17600 offers improved corrosion resistance over standard 17-4 PH due to its molybdenum content, making it suitable for marine and offshore applications where strength and durability are paramount. The material can be heat treated to various strength levels while maintaining excellent dimensional stability.

17-6 PH (S17600) is a stainless steel grade covered under ASTM A1082/A1082M for high-strength bolting in special-purpose applications such as pressure vessels. UNS designation S17600. Available as bolts, studs, screws and nuts manufactured by TorqBolt for global oil/gas/nuclear/power/marine sectors.
Mechanical property requirements for S17600 are defined in ASTM A1082 Table 2 (PH grade solution treatment) or Table 4 (duplex annealed condition). Properties vary by treatment condition - refer to the bolting specification for the H-condition (PH) or annealed yield/tensile/elongation/hardness requirements applicable to your order.
