- Covers high strength stainless steel bolting materials and components (bars, bolts, nuts) for special purpose applications such as pressure vessels (clause 1.1).

- Inch-pound units apply unless the order specifies the A1082M (SI) designation (clause 1.4).
- Supplementary requirements S1 to S6 apply only when the purchaser specifies them individually (clause 1.3).

## Marking (Table 5)

- Duplex: the UNS number without the S (for example 32750). PH: 157/157A/157B, 174 to 174J (174A H900 to 174J H1150M), 176/176A-C, 177/177A/177B, 355/355A.
- S2: marking on one end of studs and the heads of bolts of all sizes; small sizes by agreement.

## Supplementary requirements

- S1 Charpy impact tests to Table 3. S2 product marking. S3 stress relieving 50 to 100 F [28 to 55 C] below the tempering temperature after straightening. S4 NDE after final heat treatment (EC, MPI, LPI, UT or VT). S5 proof load testing of nuts. S6 cross-sectional hardness of nuts per ASTM A370 Annex A3.

## Sour service (ISO 15156-3:2015)

- Table A.24: wrought duplex, solution annealed and liquid quenched, 35 to 65 % ferrite, no ageing. 30 <= PREN <= 40 with Mo >= 1.5 %: 232 C (450 F), 10 kPa (1.5 psi) H2S. 40 < PREN <= 45: 232 C (450 F), 20 kPa (3 psi) H2S.
